A touring the library lesson plan is an educational activity designed to familiarize students with the layout and resources available in a school or public library. The plan involves a guided tour led by a librarian or teacher, during which students learn about the different sections of the library, such as the fiction, non-fiction, reference, and periodical areas. Students may also be shown how to locate and check out books, use the library's catalogue system, and access online databases and other digital resources. At the end of the class, they conduct a library scavenger hunt to answer the questions at the attached worksheet.  The goal of the lesson is to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to independently navigate the library and effectively utilize its collections and services to support their research, study, and leisure reading needs.  This lesson can be taylored to different grade levels.
